Launch at Garcia Bend Park, 7654 Pocket Rd., 9:30 AM.
Meet at the launch ramp, and be ready to launch at 9:30 AM. we will paddle upstream for an hour or two, then take a shore break. We will then paddle back downstream back to the ramp. There is usually a slow 1 - 2 mph current on the river, depending on tides. Boating protocol on the river is for powerboats to stay in the middle of the river, and paddlers stay within 20' or 30' of the shoreline. I recommend staying in groups, so as to be more visible.
Bring: PFD, paddle, water, snacks, good sun protection, and $ for parking. After unloading your boat, park in one of the 2 large lots on the dry side of the levee, in the park area.

DIRECTIONS: From downtown Sacramento, take I-5 south for about 5 minutes/4 miles, and exit at 43rd/Riverside. Turn right on Riverside at the signal at the bottom of the ramp. Proceed southwest on Riverside (which turns into Pocket Rd.) about 4 miles to Garcia Bend Park, on the right. The side street right before the park on the right is Dolphin. If you get to the stopsign at Pocket and Windbridge, you have gone 1/2 block too far.
Turn into the park, and drive all the way through the park to the levee, go left in the parking area, then bear right to go up over the levee, and down to the ramp area. Unload your boat and gear on the left side of the ramp, then drive back to one of the parking areas on the "dry" side of the levee. Keep away from the floating dock, as it is used by powerboats. Do NOT park in a slot reserved for boat trailers, the fishermen may get grumpy!
