Come join the fun and ride the Biz Johnson Trail, and do some hiking in Mt. Lassen. We are planning on staying in Chester (elevation 4,500 ft.), 9/13-16. Driving to Chester Tues., 9/13, riding the trail to Susanville (25 miles one way) 9/14, and hiking on Thurs., 9/15. There are a lot of hiking options from which to choose.
If you come to bike, it is a gravel and dirt trail. Cross-over bikes or Mountain bikes are recommended.
Michael and I are staying at the Rose Quartz Best Western Motel in Chester, while Ken and Wendy will bring their trailer and stay at a campsite by Lake Almanor.
If you are up for more bike riding, Friday, 9/16 Michael and I will drive over to Redding to spend the night. Saturday, 9/17 we are planning on riding the Sundial Bridge Trail from the bridge up to Shasta Dam and back. The ride is about 39 miles total pavement. There are some steep grades on this trail, especially as you climb to the top of Shasta Dam. We have made reservations at a Sure Stay Plus Hotel on Larkspur Lane in Redding.
Please register to let us know if you are coming.
