Bike Ride: Olympic Valley Park to Sugar Pine Point SP, 33 miles RT, Monday, Sept. 14

Start time: 10:00 am; please arrive at least 15 minutes early to gear up.

Start location: Olympic Valley Park; if coming south on 89, turn right into Olympic Valley Road and then an immediate left into the parking lot (free, and it has bathrooms).

Ride description: An easy 5-mile uphill along the Truckee River on a paved bike path to Tahoe City, where we cross the river, and turn south on the bike path for about 11 miles to Sugar Pine Point SP. A mostly flat route with outstanding views of the lake. Water/bathroom stop near Sunnyside. At Sugar Pine Point, we’ll descend into the Park for a rest stop on the grounds of the majestic Hellman-Ehrman Mansion; we’ll have time to enjoy snacks and to cool our feet in the lake. The ride back follows the same paved bike path. We’ll stop for lunch at the Bridgetender Tavern and Grill (65 W. Lake Blvd). After lunch, it is a leisurely 5-mile downhill cruise back to our cars.
