What is the 49er ski club all about?
We are a congenial group of over 49ers who like to play together. Most of our members are either retired or work on flexible schedules.
Where do you ski?
Local ski days are scheduled at Lake Tahoe area resorts.  On the North Shore (Highways 80, 89, 267, and 28) we ski Sugar Bowl, Squaw Valley,
Alpine Meadows, Homewood, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Diamond Peak, and Mt. Rose.  On the South Shore (Highways 50 and 88) we ski Sierra-at-
Tahoe, Heavenly, and Kirkwood.  Ski days are scheduled to rotate between resorts for variety.
How often do you ski?
Generally twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Do you schedule any multiple-day trips?
We generally have two week-long out-of-state trips each year plus a 5-day trip to Mammoth and 3-day trips to South Shore and North Shore.
Are your multiple-day trips open to non-members?
No. They are open only to members, prospective members, and their guests.
Do you do anything besides ski?
We have a full, year-round program of activities and events designed to keep us physically and mentally fit. During the off-season, we bike, kayak,
hike, camp, and golf to name a few activities. We also get together to attend cultural events.
Do you schedule weekend activities?
No.  Our activities are typically scheduled mid-week.  To fully participate in our activities, we recommend that you be either retired or have a
flexible work schedule.
Do you have any lodging facilities like other clubs?
No.
How can I become a member?
You must satisfy the following four requirements within the current ski season:
  • You must be 49 or older and be a skier.
  • You must be sponsored by a member in good standing.
  • You must participate in five regularly scheduled, Tues & Thurs ski outings.  A maximum of two days are allowed for participation in a multiple-day trip.
  • Before satisfying the membership requirements, you must submit an application, initiation fee, and first year dues.
How can I find a sponsor?
Join in on our regularly scheduled ski days, kayak paddles, or bike rides.  Come to a meeting.  The people you meet will be your pool of potential
sponsors.  We’d like to know who you are, and we’d like you to get to know us. You will be welcomed.
How do I find out about your regularly scheduled activities?
Check out our activities page and/or calendar on Home page or Event page.  Call the event leader for more detailed information.
And, if you need more information, please contact our Membership Chair at membership@49erSkiClub.org.
