As of today, Folsom Lake is 92% full and there’s water in Beek’s Bight, one of the prettiest places on Folsom Lake. A 10 a.m. launch will help avoid joining the morning rush hour traffic, and the temperature will be mild. Unfortunately, those pesky Wednesday breezes (7-8 mph) will be with us once again. Please be aware that the current in the river will be stronger than we usually experience ‘cuz all that snow is still pouring in.
For those who wish, lunch following at Susie’s Café, corner of Douglas and Auburn-Folsom Road in a shopping plaza on the left before crossing Auburn-Folsom Road. Good salads and sandwiches.
Sketchy directions to Beek’s Bight: It is the LAST parking lot (about 4 miles from the gate) in the Folsom Lake Granite Bay complex, which is located at the very end of Douglas Blvd. Once inside the Granite Bay entrance, keep going straight—there are brown direction signs to guide you. Beek’s Bight is next to the bottom of the list on the signs.
State parks pass or $10.
