Although the heat wave is passing, the wind will once again be a factor on Wednesday. Let’s get in the water at 9:30 a.m. and have a nice paddle from Black Miner’s Bar (formerly Negro Bar) on Lake Natoma. The entrance is from Greenback Lane just east of the highway bridge on Folsom Blvd. Please allow time for parking in the lot above the launch ramp after unloading your boat. (At least it won’t be 106 when you have to walk up to retrieve your car!)

It’s a State Park, so use your pass or have $10 handy at the kiosk when you drive in. For first-timers: drive across the bike path, angling to the right-hand side of the large parking lot where you’ll see the road down to the launch ramp. Don’t take the vehicle road that runs along the bike path. If that’s not clear, call me at 961-719-2584.

For those interested, Coffee Republic is a nice place for lunch with outdoor, dog-friendly seating, very close by at 6601 Folsom-Auburn Road, Folsom.

Now, a note on the side of caution. The group always enjoys paddling upstream all the way to the barrier before turning back to explore the lagoons on the south side of the lake. Please do not try to reach the upstream end if you must fight a strong current. The current will always win, and I want the same number of boats to get out of the water as went in. Got it? Thank you!
