Let’s go back to Folsom Lake while it’s full, this time to Salmon Falls, on the South Fork of the American River. Please do your best to be in the water at 10 a.m. The weather forecast is for 66 degrees at 9, rising to 78 degrees by noon, with a light 4 mph breeze.
Brief directions: From Green Valley Road, take Salmon Falls Road north. Salmon Falls Road is the name of El Dorado Hills Blvd. after it crosses Green Valley Road. In exactly 5.5 miles from this intersection (IMPORTANT: look at your odometer!), there’s a left turn that is really easy to miss into the parking lot. It is just before a sharp curve to the right and before the bridge crossing the river. Nice gravel launch area. Bring wheels if you have them.
State parks pass or $10 for the iron ranger.
