Let’s launch at Hobie Cove on Folsom Lake at 9:30 and paddle up the South Fork for a while. Hobie Cove is at the end of Brown’s Ravine Road, past the marina office/launch ramp. (There’s a restroom with flush toilets in the building at the turn to the marina office.) State parks pass or $10. Forecast is for about 64 at launch time, 75 by noon. Don’t forget your sun block. Since it’s a state park, there’s no street address. Brown’s Ravine Road turns off Green Valley Road between Sophia Parkway and El Dorado Hills Blvd. There’s a traffic signal at the intersection. If your GPS doesn’t recognize “Brown’s Ravine Marina” or “Folsom Lake Marina,” to reach the general area, you can use one of these addresses: El Dorado Saloon, 879 Embarcadero, EDH (don’t turn in at the shopping center—go straight to the traffic light and turn left to get to the entrance to Brown’s Ravine.) 661 Green Valley Road, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762 MAY be the street address. (Officially, there is only a P.O. Box) For those interested, the most convenient lunch spot is El Dorado Saloon, 879 Embarcadero, El Dorado Hills – at the intersection with Francisco Blvd. (turn left onto Green Valley Rd as you leave the lake, and turn right into the parking lot immediately past the next traffic signal). Other options at the Raley’s shopping center (Posh Bagels, Mimosa House, and a Mexican Restaurant) at the junction of Blue Ravine and Green Valley. FYI, the road to Beek’s Bight is still closed. It’s a federal project, and the gate attendants at Granite Bay have no info on a completion date. Please “reply to all” or register on the 49er website so that others will know they’ll have company.
