I am so darned tired of the wind! All forecasts predict breezy conditions everywhere again this Wednesday, some places at an uncomfortable velocity. The Gold River area has the best outlook, so while I’d really really like to schedule something more interesting, we’ll return to Nimbus Flat this week. It’s always good to be on the water and in good company anyway, right?
Address: 1921 Hazel Avenue. This is adjacent to the Aquatic Center, but has a separate entrance, so look for the brown “Nimbus Flat” sign. State Parks pass or $10. Launch from the grassy area across from the Aquatic Center. Please do your best to arrive in time to wet your bottom at 9:30.
Did this sound familiar? It’s a duplicate of my June 25 email, and nothing has changed! Lodi forecast is for 9 mph; Clementine 9 and gusting to 15 – and of course, those velocities arise on our way back, when we’re getting hot and tired anyway.
Another important subject: I will be away the first 3 Wednesdays of August, and possibly facing knee surgery very soon thereafter so I’ll be ready for ski season. Laura has agreed to lead a paddle at Lake Clementine during August, and Cari will take the second week, probably Lake Solano. Volunteers are needed to set up paddles for the rest of the season, so if you have a favorite place, please step up.
Depart the Fish Hatchery at 8:30 a.m. and ride the bike trail down river toward Bela Bru. Or do the reverse ride by meeting in the Bela Bru parking lot ready to depart at 7:30 a.m. (corner of Fair Oaks Blvd. and Arden Way, Sacramento). The reverse ride will take the bike trail upriver to meet the ride at the Fish Hatchery before riding back to Bela Bru for breakfast.
